New City Cleaners Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study

The Washington State Department of Ecology is providing an opportunity for the public to comment on the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) done at the New City Cleaners site, located at 747 Stevens Drive in Richland.

Ecology is asking for your comments on the following RI/FS Report:

This site has operated as a dry cleaning business since the late 1940s. Over time, common chemicals used in the dry cleaning process, Tetrachlorethene, also known as perchloroethylene, PERC, and PCE, have been released onto the ground and have caused contamination in both soil and groundwater. A Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study has been done. A Remedial Investigation is an investigation that reveals how far the contamination has spread. A Feasibility Study outlines different options and costs to do the cleanup.
